5. Find Something Cool About Your Ancestor

Hello for this challenge, you are learning about someone you are related to. You chose an ancestor and I provided some help and you may find census records, yearbook photos, newspapers articles, obituaries, and more.

The challenge is just to share one thing you learned about that ancestor in Church in two weeks.

Below is a video about the U.S. 1950 census which was just released. The U.S. Census Bureau only releases them after 72 years so we just received the 1950 census records and it's cool to find grandparents, great grandparents, and even celebrities. A lot of your ancestors were in the 1950 census. If they weren't, they may have been in the 1940, 1930, 1920, 1910 census, etc. The census was done in the United States every 10 years. Ancestors that lived outside of the United States also sometimes had census records but they were different. I am excited to learn more about your ancestors and I had a lot of fun helping to pull resources for you. If you need help or one of the links on your paper isn't working, please reach out. (Ancestry.com links will not work unless you have an account there. You can get an account set up for free through your FamilySearch church account but that would require a parents help. Because of that, I did print off all of the ancestry documents and made sure to include them in your folder. If you want them set digitally, just reach out). If you never sent an ancestor, it's not too late! Text me and I'd love to help.
